Brooklyn Gives: A Boroughwide Day of Giving

Brooklyn Community Foundation is launching a new #GivingTuesday tradition in Brooklyn to promote local giving.

Brooklyn Gives honors 20 outstanding local organizations that are finalists in Brooklyn Community Foundation’s Spark Prize for Brooklyn Nonprofits. In celebration of their excellence, each organization will receive a $5,000 matching grant from the Foundation, adding up to a total #GivingTuesday match of $100,000. The 20 Brooklyn Gives beneficiaries will be revealed in early October!

Our goal is to raise over $200,000 on #GivingTuesday.

We want to make sure these Brooklyn lifelines maximize the match! To make it happen, the Foundation has partnered with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to recruit local businesses to participate in Brooklyn Gives during the holiday shopping season.

The idea is simple: shop local, give local!

Brooklyn Gives on #GivingTuesday

Celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is the official kickoff of the charitable season. It is also the day of Brooklyn’s first Boroughwide 24-hour giving event, encouraging Brooklyn residents and small businesses to come together to support Brooklyn’s outstanding nonprofits.
